Introduction to Computers Level 1 You'll learn computer basics in a nice slow and relaxed atmosphere. This course has been specifically structured for seniors and others who want to get started with computers, but feel a need to build extra confidence to begin. It will enable participants to understand the basics of operating a personal computer. You'll learn fundamental word processing, as well as receive an introduction to e-mail and Internet tasks. This curriculum allows for extra time for hands-on comfort and gentle answers to the questions we all have. Prerequisite: Computer Preparation or Equivalent. Two Sessions
Introduction to Computers Level 2 You'll continue to learn computer basics in a nice slow and relaxed atmosphere. This course continues the process of reinforcing what was learned in Level 1 and adds additional tools. You’ll get a review of the previous course material, learn how to change the look of your word processing documents, learn the basics of spreadsheets, and continue practicing using the Internet and sending and receiving emails and including attachments (like pictures) to your email messages. This course has been specifically structured for seniors and others who want to get started with computers, but feel a need to build extra confidence to begin. This curriculum allows for extra time for hands-on comfort and gentle answers to the questions we all have. Prerequisite: Introduction to Computers Level 1 or Equivalent. Two Sessions
Introduction to Computers Level 3 An introduction to the
World Wide Web and the use of email for those who are excited to
get connected! The following topics will be covered: Prerequisite: Introduction to Computers Level 2 or Equivalent. One Session.
Smartä Board: An Introduction A visual enhancement in conferences and in classrooms, the SMARTä Board is part touch-screen computer display and part white board. As a large, touch-screen computer display, the SMARTä Board allows multiple people to manipulate the computer. During this session, you will get the opportunity to learn about the tools available with the SMARTä Board, along with the software. You'll see demonstrations of how the SMARTä Board can assist you in meetings and seminars. You'll also see how standard white board pens become digital ink to annotate an image, edit a document or create a diagram or chart from scratch. Focus will be on the Word menu system and toolbar as well as creating and editing of a document.Prerequisite: Intro to Computers Series or equivalent. One Session.
Microsoft 2003 Word Level 2 Create professional looking documents by learning how to format your Word documents. You will learn add and use tables in a variety of ways. This course covers additional features and functions of MS Word, such as formatting a document; creating a numbered and bulleted list; setting margins, tab stops, and page breaks. This course also incorporates the use of tables to set up a multiple-column document for a clean and professional look. Prerequisite: Microsoft Word Level 1 or Equivalent. One Session.
Microsoft 2003 Word Level 3 Add more professionalism to your documents and incorporate Excel databases to create customized letters and labels. This high-level session will show you advanced features to help you create customized reports, perform basic mail merge techniques, incorporate graphics into your document, work with AutoText, and work with multiple sections. MS Word 2007 Document Formatting Level 1 (TASK SPECIFIC) Make your documents visually attractive and more professional. Learn how to apply different fonts, sizes and other text styles. Align your text, indent paragraphs and use tabs. Explore how to adjust the spacing of words, paragraphs, pages and create lists. MS Word 2007 Drawing Clip Art and WordArt (TASK SPECIFIC) Enhance Word documents, Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint slide presentations with graphic shapes and clip art. Transform your documents with WordArt and draw lines, arrows and various shapes. Resize, reshape, rotate, move, copy and align your objects. Change the color and/or style of a drawing object.
